The protection of your data is important to us. We are therefore committed to handling your data transparently and responsibly by informing you below about what happens to your personal data when you visit our website or perform other actions on our website. Personal data is data that can be used to identify you.

The processing of personal data is based on the legal norms of the applicable laws, in particular the Data Protection Act of the Protestant Church in Germany (DSG-EKD).

Online donation and campaign donation

Description and scope of data processing

On our website, we offer users the opportunity to donate online to the Berlin City Mission. On our website, we also offer users the opportunity to create a campaign donation or to make a campaign donation for a specific project. Legal basis and purposes of data processing
The collection of the user's data is necessary for the fulfilment of the online donation or the event donation or event donation campaign with the user and is based on §6 No. 5 DSG-EKD.
If desired, the transmitted data will be listed in a donation receipt and made available to you. The legal basis for this is consent in accordance with Section 6 No. 2 DSG-EKD. Depending on which payment service provider you select in the ordering process, we will pass on the payment data collected for the processing of payments to the credit institution commissioned with the payment and, if applicable, to the payment service provider commissioned by us or to the selected payment service.

In some cases, the selected payment service providers also collect this data themselves if you create an account with them. If the data is required to fulfil the purpose, premature deletion of the data is only possible insofar as contractual or legal obligations do not prevent deletion.

Provision of the website and creation

Logfiles

Each time our website is accessed, our system automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing computer.
The following data is collected:

1. information about the browser type and version used
2. the user's operating system
3. the IP address of the user
4. date and time of access
5. websites from which the user's system accesses our website

The data is also stored in the log files of our system. This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user. The data is stored in log files to ensure the functionality of the website. For this purpose, the user's IP address must remain stored for the duration of the session.

Cookies

A cookie called ‘Spamshield’ is created to make it more difficult to send spam emails via the contact forms.
No personal data is stored in this cookie. It only checks whether the browser can store cookies in order to distinguish it from a spam bot. The user data collected in this way is pseudonymised by technical precautions. It is therefore no longer possible to assign the data to the accessing user. The data is not stored together with other personal user data.
When accessing our website, users are informed about the use of cookies for analysis purposes by an information banner and referred to this data protection declaration. In this context, there is also a note on how the storage of cookies can be prevented in the browser settings.
We also use cookies on our website that enable us to analyse the surfing behaviour of users. (see Matomo statistics)

SSL or TLS encryption

This site uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content. You can recognise an encrypted connection both by the text ‘https://’ in the address bar of the browser and by the lock symbol. If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data that you transmit to us on our website via tools or contact forms cannot be read by third parties.

Contact form and e-mail contact

There are various contact forms and input masks on our website that can be used, for example, to contact us electronically or to send donations. If a user makes use of this option, the data entered in the input mask will be transmitted to us and stored. The data entered in the contact form is therefore processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Section 6 (2) DSG-EKD). You can revoke this consent at any time. All you need to do is send us an informal email. The legality of the data processing operations carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

Depending on the form, data such as e-mail address, name/company, title, bank details if applicable and information on donation behaviour (project, donation amount, payment method) as well as the IP addresses of donors are stored. No data is passed on to third parties in this context. The data is used exclusively for the processing of the conversation or the order (newsletter/panorama dispatch, transaction of a donation/permanent donation, collection of donations in kind or applications for a job or for voluntary work).

E-mail security
The user agrees to electronic communication as soon as he/she establishes electronic contact with the Verein für Berliner Stadtmission or a non-profit subsidiary. The user is advised that e-mails can be read or changed without authorisation and unnoticed during transmission if they are not encrypted.

The Verein für Berliner Stadtmission uses software to filter unwanted e-mails (spam filter). The spam filter can reject e-mails if they have been identified as spam by certain characteristics.

Newsletter

You can subscribe to a free newsletter on our website. When you register for the newsletter, the data from the input screen is stored using email marketing software from the service provider CleverReach. This company CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG is represented by CleverReach Verwaltungs GmbH, which is represented by the managing directors Christian Schmidt and Jens Klibingat, Mühlenstr. 43, 26180 Rastede/Germany, each with sole power of representation (see § 7 Data security). The following data is stored: email address, name/company, title and the format in which you must receive your newsletter. Your consent is obtained for the processing of the data as part of the registration process and reference is made to this privacy policy. Only the data required for sending the newsletter will be stored. The data will be used exclusively for sending the newsletter and will not be passed on to third parties for advertising purposes.

Plugins and Tools

YouTube
Our website uses plugins from the YouTube site operated by Google. The operator of the pages is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit one of our pages equipped with a YouTube plugin, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. The YouTube server is informed which of our pages you have visited.
If you are logged in to your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your surfing behaviour directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

Matomo-Statistics
We use Matomo (formerly Piwik), an open source software for the statistical analysis of user access. Matomo uses cookies, which are stored on the user's computer and enable the use of the website to be analysed. The information generated by the cookie about the use of our website is stored on our server in Germany. The IP address is anonymised immediately after processing and before it is stored. Users can prevent the installation of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in their browser software.
